Sustainable irrigation: The role of drip irrigation systems in modern agriculture.
Guangyong Wang*
Irrigation is a vital aspect of modern agriculture, providing the necessary water for crop growth and survival. However, traditional irrigation methods such as flood or overhead sprinkler systems can be wasteful, leading to the loss of valuable water resources. This is where drip irrigation systems come in. Drip irrigation, also known as trickle irrigation, is a method of irrigation in which water is delivered to the roots of plants through a network of valves, pipes, tubing, and emitters. The water is delivered directly to the roots of the plants at a slow and steady rate, reducing the amount of water lost through evaporation and runoff.
